Tradition and modernity in a unique Piedmontese farmhouse

This typical Piedmontese farmhouse is situated in a small village in the Monferrato area, surrounded by woods and vineyards. The characteristics of the original structure, dating back to the end of the 19th century, have been preserved in perfect symbiosis with more contemporary materials. In fact, the restoration project aimed to preserve everything that could still be used. The result is this magnificent property of approximately 320 square metres of commercial space, arranged on two levels with large rooms with a modern cut that respects the original architectural perimeter. The kitchen and the dining room, divided by a partition, have been created in the rooms of the former cellar, where the original vaults have been preserved and a large window has been opened to give brightness and a view of the courtyard. The beams of the roof, which has been completely rebuilt, have been salvaged and treated with boric salts, a natural disinfectant for wood, and cover the ceiling of the living room. Where they are not salvaged, the materials used meet green building criteria. The walls are made of exposed brick or lime plaster, and thermal insulation is provided by the use of wood fibre and cork. The property has three bathrooms with showers and fine sanitary ware, one on the ground floor and two on the first floor serving the sleeping area. A suspended backlit staircase leads to the first floor, where the former barn has been converted into a large covered terrace, ideal for relaxing on hot summer days. Three bedrooms with wooden or terracotta floors and a cloakroom complete the first floor. The property is surrounded by approximately 1000 sqm of land and garden and it is not isolated.
